Delivering High-Quality Medical Equipment to the General Public

In India, digital blood pressure monitors, nebulizers and thermometers were not recognized as medical devices. Therefore, there were no restrictions or barriers to quality, and many low-priced products where the quality was not sufficiently guaranteed were made widely available. For this reason, our team worked with the Indian authorities to attend all the relevant conferences and forums on behalf of OMRON. By establishing barriers to entry based on quality rather than product price, we have succeeded in developing a system in which legitimate competition takes place. The idea that “access to quality medical care is a basic human right” accomplished that, and it was a big step in reforming India’s quality standards.
